Scouting Chinquapin Creek dry, Little River Canyon, AL

July 4, 1996 – Don Kinser & Milt Aitken hiked, climbed and scouted Cinquapin Creek in Little River Canyon, AL.  This is a ridiculously steep creek drops over 400 feet from the canyon rim down to the river below in a little over 4000 ft, for a 500 ft/mile run, except…  fully 1/3 of that is the runout into the river, which isnowhere near as steep as the other two thirds.  You can see the first drop on Tales of the Paddlesnake, but most of the party decided to hike out after that and we had to bail on the run.  Mike Huff and party made the first descent a few years later.
