Canoes & kayaks on the teddy Bear in Little River Canyon

April 22, 1996 – LRC was way too high, Johnnies was good and Wolf was low, so we decided to get a new run in for us.  This is Bear Creek inside Little River Canyon, aka “The Teddy Bear” to differentiate it from the “Hairy Bear Creek” of Cloudland Canyon.  It takes about 5000cfs in LRC to pad this out and make it fun. On this day it was around 6000cfs. It’s a beautiful run with waterfalls coming off the high edges of the canyon. When you get to the confluence with the Little, you have a choice: Paddle the huge water in the canyon including Bottleneck, or make the horrible hike out at the chairlift.  We chose the river.

Milt Aitken, Mike Smith, Mike Camp and a couple more buttboaters.
