Overflow Creek

November 12, 1995 – Steve Frazier, Milt Aitken, Don Kinser paddle Overflow in open canoes. I didn’t film much that day, just Bushwacker, PeeWee, and Singleys.

Don’s log entry sheds more light on this trip:
My inagural Overflow trip! The weather was sunny and cold (40 deg) with calm winds. I wore drysuit, wet suit, polartec pants and two layers of polypro on top. I remained pretty comfortable all day. We took a little over 5 hours on the river (11:15 – 4:30) with lots of scouting and so forth. After getting bushwhacked at Bushwacker I had a real good day. My only roll came in Roundabout after the first drop in the narrow section. Very timely! I had pretty good lines on just about everything else, real good lines at Blind, Singley’s and Igor. We did Blind Falls blind from way upstream because of a log guarding the lower eddy. What a rush. We walked Gravity, Marginal and Pinball. Steve leaked out of the back of the eddy above Marginal. He made it safely into the eddy but his boat ran Marginal without him!. We scrambled after it and found it safely in the eddy at the portage put in – very fortunate. Our only other mishap was Milt’s roll in Singley’s slot. He took a long time to roll (as always) and nearly went over the drop below into Twilight (?). Steve was able to grab his boat as he tried to roll up onto a logjam and stuck. Two close calls!… but all in all a very good day.
