April 1995 – We ran Warwoman Creek, which flows from Warwoman Rd near Clayton, GA in Rabun County to the Chattooga where it marks both Earls Ford and the top of Section 3. Earls Ford was a traditional crossing point before the Chattooga got Wild & Scenic status . Locals weren’t happy with the road closure on the South Carolina side because afterwards it was a long drive to see their friends and relatives. The road closure required the county’s cooperation since it was a traditional right of way. Oconee County, SC closed their side. Rabun County, GA did not. So people drive and camp on the old right of way and sometimes drive their trucks into the river to wash them.
The creek was pretty busy and hard to video at this level (big). When it runs, it is mostly bank to bank moving water, so it is hard to find a rock to film from. But the puppy was fun!
