Back in the day… There was a paddler’s gauge painted on a bridge pier at the top of LRC Falls on AL35. But they replaced the bridge and there was nobody like Charleen Thompson to lobby for leaving the pier as she did for the Chattooga. So, the paddlers gauge was lost and paddlers became dependent on the Alabama Power/USGS gauge at the mouth of the canyon, which, unfortunately requires recalibration frequently and often gets stuck with big rain events.
