This was Don & Milt’s first time on the Upper Gauley. The thunderous tubes were terrifyingly awesome. Of course, they are gone now. Summersville dam was built for flood control so they didn’t put generators in. When they released in the fall to draw down the pool, all that energy was wasted as turbulence. So, they eventually added a generator was was much better use of that hydro power, but so much less of an experience!
