Upper Conasauga RIver, GA – Canoes, Kayaks & C1 – Winter Paddling 1997

1997 – Fred Stokes (C1), Dirk Bertrand (OC1), Mike Camp (K1), and Milt Aitken (OC1) run the Upper Conasauga with a certain style, not a good one, though…

The Upper Conasauga has a put-in at Chicken Coop Gap which is well above the river level requiring a steep scramble down the mountain side.  Chicken Coop Gap is not marked and is not that easy to find.  But the run is worth it.  The water is clean and beautiful.  There are very few signs of recent human activity, although some old roads can be discerned where there is a bridge abutment.  I think those roads a very very old and unused, though.
